ISAF womens match racing rankings

ISAF womens match eacing rankings work on a rolling two year system.

So if a ranking release is on, for example, 9th june 2010 then that ranking will take into account the results from june 9th 2008 to june 9th 2010.

Within the two years the results are split into one year brackets: 9/6/08 to 9/6/09 and 9/6/09 to 9/6/10.

The oldest results 9/6/08 to 9/6/09 get given half points. The latest year 9/6/09 to 9/6/10 get given full points.

Within each year only top four results will count. So a maximum of 8 results will count over two years.

Each result is given points in this method:

Position: 1st= 100, 2nd=90, 3rd=80, 4th=70 and so on.

The event grading multiplier: world championships = 3.5, grade 1 = 3, grade 2 = 2.5, grade 3 = 2.

There is also a bonus to the multiplier depending on how high ranked all the skippers are.

Year multiplier: recent year= 6, older year = 3

There is also a bonus if you beat higher ranked skippers.

So an example of one result could be 3rd in a grade 2, that was in oct 2009, you beat 5 higher ranked skippers:

80 + 5 (3rd position and beat 5 higher ranked skippers) 2.5 (grade 2) 6 (recent year)

so 85 x 2.5 x 6 = 1275 points
